Der San Lameer Golf Club liegt in der Nähe von Durban an der Küste KwaZulu-Natals und ist Teil eines 163ha großen Estates. Das ganze Areal ist ein Naturschutzgebiet mit reicher Vogelwelt, die Vegetation besteht aus Palmen, wilden Bananen, Bougainvillen und dem für die Region typischen Buschwerk. Der Platz befindet sich in einem herausragenden Zustand. Die weiten Fairways mit hausgroßen roten Felsblöcken als Hindernisse sind perfekt in die hügelige Landschaft integriert. Die enorm grossen Grüns sind schnell, von Breaks durchzogen und von Bunkern bewacht. Beim Spiel sollte man auf den Wind achten, der hier immer ins Spiel kommt. Besonders gelungen ist das 13. Loch, ein Par 3 mit einem Inselgrün.

Der Platz für Spieler aller Spielstärken geeignet, da vier verschiedene Tees zur Verfügung stehen und somit jeder die Wahl hat, sich für die richtige Länge zu entscheiden. Die richtige Strategie entscheidet hier über ein gutes Ergebnis, da man an fast jedem Loch die Möglichkeit hat, entweder defensiv und sicher, oder aber aggressiv und riskant zum Erfolg zukommen.

Since the re-opening of San Lameer Estate's upgraded golf course, which just last year had its greens resurfaced, there has been an overwhelmingly positive response. "Since the new, upgraded course opened on the 8th of December last year, we have seen the most rounds being played over the last five years. "The course is progressing very nicely and looking good. The levels are great and the grass has tightened up and is thriving. The greens have matured and the course has progressed far beyond what we even hoped for,” remarks Matkovich.
